VISION


To develop coaching, officiating and club administration in all three legs of Athletics i.e. Track and Field, Cross Country, and Road running.

MISSION


Uplift the standard of Athletics in Gauteng through facilitating the training and development of coaches, technical officials, and athletes in especially with emphasis on the rural areas by hosting clinics and courses and rendering assistance with the development of facilities

OBJECTIVES


  1. To train and develop athletics coaches at clubs, primary and secondary school as well as tertiary level through –
    • Training of prospective coaches and sports organizers at tertiary institutions.
    • Hosting of clinics at schools (primary and secondary).
    • Hosting of training camps.
    • Coaching courses at schools (primary and secondary). as well as tertiary institutions.
    • Technical Officials courses at schools (primary and secondary). as well as tertiary institutions
    • Supplying technical advice on equipment, apparatus and facilities.
  2. To develop skills amongst athletes in clubs and schools in especially the rural areas.
  3. To develop the level of knowledge and skills of technical officials at schools level.
  4. To assist schools to upgrade their facilities and equipment through advice on their needs.
  5. To give advice and talks to parents and teachers on the value of sport at a young age.

DIFFERENT PROJECTS


  • Coaching clinics at a school or area (one- or two-day clinics)
  • Coaching courses to qualify coaches (three to five days - 20 hours)
  • Training camps at (primary and / or high schools)
  • Official courses to qualify officials
  • Designing an athletics track
  • Talent identification at a school.
  • Talks on any topic regarding athletics to parents and teachers

GOALS


A To register with Athletics South Africa to –

  1. To support Athletics South Africa to –
    • coordinate the presenting of all of the following training and development in the Provinces;
    • standardize training material;
    • standardize presenting in provinces; and
    • do quality control.
  2. To train and mentor Lecturers in provinces to develop the following;
    • Coaches
    • Technical Officials (Stage 2)
    • Meeting organisers (Stage 3)
  3. To register with Tertiary Institutions, the Department of Sport, the Department of Education and private schools to present training and development to
    • students in the following –
      • Human Movement Sciences;
      • Sport Science;
      • Teachers training.
    • Teachers at both Primary and Secondary schools.
  4. To introduce standard curricula for the above training so that a uniform standard exist in the whole country.
  5. To identify In collaboration with the different provinces persons in each Province who are suitable to do training and to teach them to train according to the curricula referred to in (c above.
  6. To oversee through regular inspections that the set standards are sustained in all provinces.
